How to Make Your Apple ID Account More Secure with Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is a security feature that makes it harder for someone to access your Apple ID account

It means that you need to enter two things to sign in to your account: your password and a code.

The code can be sent to you by SMS or email. This way, even if someone knows your password, they can’t access your account without the code.

Two-factor authentication is a common security standard for most online accounts today. It can protect your data and privacy from hackers, scammers, and spies.

It can also prevent unauthorized access to your Apple services, such as iCloud, iTunes, App Store, Apple Pay, and more.

If you have an Apple ID account that was created on iOS 10.3 or macOS Sierra 10.12 or later versions, you already have Two-Factor Authentication enabled by default.

You don’t need to do anything to turn it on. However, if you have an older Apple ID account, you might need to enable Two-Factor Authentication manually. You can do this by following these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on your name at the top of the screen. This will open your Apple ID settings.
  • Tap on the Password & Security option and then tap on the Two-Factor Authentication option.
  • Tap on the Turn On Two-Factor Authentication button and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • You will need to enter your Apple ID password and a phone number that can receive verification codes by SMS or phone call.
  • You can also choose to add a trusted phone number that can receive verification codes by SMS or phone call.
  • After you enter your phone number, you will receive a verification code by SMS or phone call. Enter the code on your iPhone to confirm your phone number and enable Two-Factor Authentication.

You’re done! You have successfully enabled Two-Factor Authentication on your Apple ID account. Now, whenever you sign in to your account, you will need to enter your password and a code that will be sent to you by SMS or email.
