How to Monitor Your Cardio Level on iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2



Apple has recently released iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2 to the public with a new feature that can help you track your cardio level through the VO2 max sensor on the Apple Watch. 

VO2 max is a measure of your body’s ability to use oxygen during intense physical activity. It is an indicator of your cardiovascular fitness and health.

Your cardio level is based on your VO2 max and other factors, such as your age, sex, weight, and medications. 

A higher cardio level means you have a lower risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other chronic conditions. 

A lower cardio level means you may need to improve your fitness or consult your doctor.

You can set up your own cardio level through the Health app on your iPhone. The Health app will use the data from your Apple Watch to estimate your VO2 max and your cardio level.

You can also get notifications when your cardio level is low, so you can take action to improve it. To set up your cardio level on iOS 14.3, you need to follow these steps:

  • Open the Health app on your iPhone.
  • Tap on the Browse tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Enter Cardio Fitness in the search bar and tap on the result.
  • Tap on the Set Up button under Cardio Fitness Levels.
  • Enter your personal details, such as your age, sex, weight, and height. Also, select any medications that may affect your heart rates, such as beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers. Then, tap Next.
  • Tap on the Turn on Notifications button to enable notifications when your cardio level is low. You can also customize the frequency and the threshold of the notifications. Then, tap Done.

Once you have set up your cardio level, your Apple Watch will start measuring your VO2 max and your cardio level. 

You can check your cardio level in the Health app by tapping on the Cardio Fitness Levels option under the Browse tab. 

You can also see your VO2 max in the Fitness app by tapping on the Summary tab and scrolling down to the VO2 Max section.

When your cardio level is low, your Apple Watch will send you a notification. 

You can tap on the notification to see more details and suggestions on how to improve your cardio level. 

Some of the suggestions include increasing your physical activity, doing high-intensity interval training, or consulting your doctor.
